So you’ve made the leap to enter the world of online or internet marketing, GREAT! NOW WHAT?

If you want to make easy money online, you’ll need a S-T-R-A-T-E-G-Y!

That is, a long term plan of action that will get you to your goal – making money online.

Strategy unlike tactics tend to be extensively premeditated.

People don’t plan to fail, they fail to plan!

According to one study, more than 8000 people start an internet or online marketing business every week, hoping to achieve financial success that will equal or surpass that of their day jobs.

Ninety-five percent (95%) will fail within the first year. The primary reason – no strategy for success.

Some are led astray by “outlandish claims” of instant fortune by marketers who prey on their naivite. And the rest just give up!

Beyond The Newbie, explains in detail two aspects of running a successful online business that are most often overlooked by new internet marketers.

How To Make Money Online…

Basically there are three (3) ways to make money online…

  • Create Your Own Product (Your Own Stuff)
  • Sell Ad Space (Adsense, Commission Junction, etc.)
  • Affiliate Marketing (Other People’s Stuff)

Your Own Stuff. This can be a time consuming proposition. You have to create it from scratch yourself or outsource it; which can be expensive. Although there are inexpensive ways to accomplish this too. Ultimately though, creating your own product, especially if you have limited or no prior experience can be very time consuming.

Ad Space In Websites. The most common source of this idea would be Adsense. Essentially, through Google, you can add advertisement to your website that when visitors click them, you earn a commission. Since its inception, the guys at Google have changed the way Adwords (that’s what the Adsense Ad are based on)are bid on. Since they’ve gone to a “content” driven format, the value of clicks on Adsense sites have dramatically diminished in many cases. Adsense marketers who were used to making thousands of dollars from Adsense Optimized sites suddenly saw there revenues cut dramatically.

Revenue from Adsense Ads depends on having highly optimized “Content Pages” based on particularly popular niches. But, since your revenue ranges from a few cents to a few dollars per click, you need thousands of pages to generate decent income.

Selling Ad Space has low margins. A marketer pays Google a set amount everytime someone click their AdWords Ad. Google in turn pays the Adsense marketer a percentage when the Adword Ad on their website is clicked. You’re being paid a percentage of a percentage of a percentage. Unless you’re prepared to invest a lot of time into writing tons of content, it’s not the fastest or easiest way to get into profit for a newbie.

Other People’s Stuff (OPS). Undoubtedly, Affiliate Marketing is the fastest means to get into profit. Big margins (commission range of 50%- 75%) depending on the product. It’s quick and products are generally easy to sell since most of them are digital! No inventory, no shipping, no dealing with returns.

7 Point Internet Marketing Strategy…

To get started, here is a seven point strategy for long term success in your internet “marketing” business:

Understand that marketing is everything you do to place your product or service in the hands of potential customers.

  1. Identify Your Niche
  2. Test Your Ideas
  3. Create A “Squeeze” or Landing Page
  4. Write A Sales Page
  5. Find An Affiliate Product – Sell O.P.S.
  6. Generate Traffic
  7. Manage Your Marketing Funnel

Having a plan, even if it’s a simple “daily to-do-list” is better than not having a plan at all. Write it down.

Start with the end in mind and work backwards, carefully considering the steps that are necessary to accomplish your goals. Once you’ve written a draft plan, set is aside. Sleep on it and review it the next day. Do the steps make sense? Can they be achieved in the time frame you’ve set? What resources will you need to make your plan a reality? Have a friend or mentor read give you feedback on your plan.

Remember, even though you’re not starting a “Brick & Mortar” business, it is a business.
