Making Websites Mobile Friendly

Thanks to technology people can gain access to the web right at their fingertips even when they’re on the run. As people’s need change, their means do so, too. With that, the web can now be accessed from phones and other wireless devices.

Think PDAs and how handy they are. Compared to the size of your desktop, you can really say that size does matter. Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) fit in your hand and works just like an ordinary computer does. With all these handy devices available for everyone to take advantage of, website owners should see to it that their sites are mobile friendly. Sometimes, websites have added mobile features but when you check it out using mobile devices, they really are not mobile device-friendly. Mobile emulators make it possible to view your website as it would be seen by someone using a mobile device. Sites that are not mobile friendly are useless when viewed on small screens and will most likely turn users away. That is why it is very important to create a very good first impression to customers browsing for whatever with the use of their mobile devices. This gives you the chance to capture customers who are in need of your products or services even when they’re on the go. Because normal sites may not be viewed just the same as when viewed on your desktops or laptops, site owners may want to consider a separate site for wireless users. Different screens and situations must be given thought, too, as sizes of phones and mobile devices do vary. It might not be enough to just transfer your internet site format and leave it at that. Content must be balanced and must not be overcrowded. It is important to give customers what they want or it might spell the end for your site. To help you with this, adding simple code to the main page that detects a mobile operating system will make it easier for you. Windows CE may be used for this. This Microsoft OS is optimized for devices that have minimal storage and can be redirected to a basic and low band-width page.

Separate sites may include the basis of your site, contact information, summary, and a link back to your main site from those pages. A domain mirror just for mobile users will be helpful, too. So say for example your site is www.thissite.com, your mirror on a sub domain may be mobile.thissite.com.

Moreover, PHP files will be useful, too. These will automatically prepend to every page that changes all URLs to mobilized URLs. All of the above-mentioned are helpful to make sites mobile friendly. You don’t have to make all of these on your own. You can always hire someone to help you provide convenience to your customers.
