I wanted to take a few moments to share with you the purpose of my blog, StrategiesForOnlineNewbies. Having spent nearly 25 years in sales and marketing I began to realize the true potential of Internet Marketing and made the commitment to build a profitable online business.
The idea grew as a result of my own struggles to build a successful online business. When I began in late 2006, it was more an avocation than a real business. I dibbled and dabbled here and there trying this and that. My core businesses at that time were non-profit consulting and website design.
Like many of you I struggled for a long time, made a lot of mistakes, wasted time and money until late I began to start making money, little by little in 2007. It took me nearly a year to really understand how things worked online. What I found was a lot of incomplete information, pie-in-the-sky promises and people with unfulfilled dreams. I learned that like most worthwhile things in life, success online has a price.
That price comes in the way of hard work, time and commitment, yes and also money. Owning any business, and I’ve owned a few, requires an investment of capital. An online business is the same. Perhaps the initial outlay of cash is much lower than in traditional offline business, but there will come a point at which you’re going to have to pump some cash into your money making machine in order to keep it going. (I talk more about this and what’s called a Funded Proposal in my newsletter).
Eventually, a little of a year and a half ago, I made the transition from a traditional 9-5 to full time online. Believe me, if I can do it so can you!
My first recommendation is that you subscribe to my RSS feeder. That way, you’ll get all the post in a timely manner. I post at least 3 times/week on variously tips, tricks and topics related to online marketing. My goal is to provide relevant content that will help you as you build your own business.
A quick review of the categories will give you an idea of the topics. Most are foundational to online success – Traffic Generation, List Building, Affiliate Marketing, PPC, Web Design – you get the idea.
Also, you’ll find buttons and banners placed strategically on the site. Many of free resources and nearly everything advertised on the site I’ve either used or am currently using in my own business. So if I recommend it, it’s because I’ve tested it myself and know it will help you.
