How To Manage Your Website After Google Panda

What is Google Panda?

Google Panda

Matt Cutts, Google Search Quality Group

According to Matt Cutts, it is an algorithmic change from Google’s search quality team. It tends to rank lower quality sites lower and allows higher quality site to rank higher. It looks for signals of quality that users love.

If you want to succeed on Google, you have to step into the Google mindset and think about things the way Google does.

A main target of Panda are content farms that tend to offer low quality or even spam content and that tend to have lots of revenue sharing ads on the page.

These sites, although they offered little in user value tended to be SEO’d to the point where the would outrank legitimate sites and even authority sites.

Google has finally stepped in.

If you own a website or a blog, undoubtedly you have some concerns about how the Google Panda algorithm change will affect it now and into the future.

The only way to manage your online presence effectively is to understand what Google is doing, what they want and ultimately to give it to them.

Forget loopholes and hacks. They only work temporarily. If you’re into marketing online for the long haul, watch the video below for real insight into what is behind Google Panda.

Get Your Website indexed in google Fast…

Most of us work hard building sites that provide great content for our readers. But unless your site is indexed in Google and other major search engines it will never be found or seen. And, as an online marketer you should realize that your competition is not waiting around for you to show up.

The faster you can get your site indexed in Google, the faster you can begin to see results!

Here is a method I use to get my sites indexed in the major search engines quickly. There are some who say that this first method is not necessary, but I’ve found that it works. You can test the results yourself.

The best part is that it only takes a few minutes and it is absolutely free.

Each of the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing) allows you to submit your URL to their search engines for indexing. Below are the direct links to submit your URL’s.

Google URL Submission
Yahoo Site Explorer
Submit Your Site To Bing

I also suggest that you investigate the various webmaster tools for each of these search engines. Typically they require that you upload a small file to your root directory to verify that you are the owner of the site. Once you’ve done this you can get great information about how your site is ranking in a particular search engine.

Get Indexed In Google Using A Simple Software Script

The second method involves using a free automation tool. I suggest you grab this free tool for indexing your site quickly and as an added bonus (big bonus) getting valuable backlinks.

Any site you put up, you can use this 5 minute process and have your site indexed within hours.

We’re going to be using multiple website monitoring/statistics sites. What’s cool about these sites is that they automatically create pages on the fly (dynamically) depending on what the URL is. To understand why this process works let’s look at an example.

One of these sites is called StatBrain.com –a website statistics monitoring service. Now all you have to do in order to create a page on StatBrain with a link back to your new site is to put this dynamic URL structure into your browser and click go.

The page is automatically generated on statbrain.com and there’s a link back to your new site.

Here’s the structure:

http://www.statbrain.com/www.yourdomain.com

You simply replace “yourdomain.com” with your real site’s domain and enter it into your browser. You will then see a new dynamically generated page for your site.

Major search engines like Google crawl these sites and index these new pages all day long. They pick up the new page on StatBrain, follow the link and then index your site.

Of course doing this manually is tedious and time consuming. But right now you can download…

indexed in google

Download it here: Free Backlinks Generator

Does it work? Well yeah!

This is a very viral system and once you start it the links, traffic and commissions grow almost by themselves. (Actually via other people doing the work for you but you get the idea.)

I can highly recommend you grab a copy of Free Backlinks Generator while it’s FREE.

Use Backlinks To Get Indexed In Google

The third method I use to get my sites indexed in Google super fast is to place a back-link to my site on sites that Google crawls regularly.

These sites include:

When Google crawls these sites, you link will be found and you site will get indexed, often within hours – not days!
As a best practice, I suggest using multiple methods to insure you website or blog is indexed quickly.

What do you think? Try it…  Join the conversation, leave a comment!

How To Get Your Site Indexed Google In 12 Hours…

Here is an easy strategy to get your website (or preferably blog) indexed by Google in 12 hours or less.

Bookmark your site using Jumptags.com

Just go to jumptags and register for a free account. Your site should be on the front page of Jumptags which Google will spider. I have had sites indexed in under three hours.

Mister-Wong.com is another bookmarking service that indexes in Google fairly quickly.

I also recommend that you submit your sites to:

  1. Google – www.google.com/addurl/
  2. Yahoo – search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html
  3. Bing – www.bing.com/webmaster/SubmitSitePage.aspx

Then create a site map. For traditional websites you can use this free tool, XML-Sitemap Generator. Use an FTP service like Filezilla (it’s free to download) to upload your sitemaps to your root directory public_html file.

For WordPress blogs, it’s much simpler. Just upload the WordPress XML plugin. It will do all the work for you.

Lastly, I recommend creating accounts at:

Google Webmaster Tools – www.google.com/webmasters/tools/
Yahoo Sitebuilder - http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/
Bing Webmaster Center – www.bing.com/webmaster

You will be required to upload a small file to your domain to authenticate your account for each service.  It only takes a few minutes but will greatly improve your chances of getting indexed quickly.

If you’ve got a method for getting indexed quickly,  leave a comment and share the wealth!

Good luck and talk soon,

Bob

Optimizing for Google and getting your site on Google’s coveted first page is not difficult with a little work and know how. If you’re new to Internet Marketing you probably realize that just launching a website that looks cool or even that has great content is by itself, not enough to get you on the first page of Google. You must employ sound SEO tactics to achieve the desired results.

What follows is the first post in my series on basic “onsite” SEO tips that will get you started. keep in mind, there is no magic bullet. There are however tried and tested methods which work and which have to tweaked occasionally as Google adapts and changes its algorithms. What works today may not work next week.

Step 1 – Keyword Research. Yeah, I know, it’s been beat to death but the truth is, not choosing the right keywords is the death nil to countless aspiring online marketers.

There are essentially two kinds of keywords. Research keywords and buying keywords.

If you are trying to sell a product and earn quick profits, you want to avoid “research” keywords and concentrate on keyword phrases that people who are looking to purchase a product or service are querying Google and the other search engines with.

Let’s use “dog training” as an example. The term “dog training” is extremely broad. A Google search for this term returns 39,000,000 results. However Google actually helps you in defining search terms. See the screen shot below.

Click to increase size

When you type in the term “dog training” Google actually provides you with more specific search queries.

The more specific you are in your search term the greater your chances of (1) ranking high in Google and attracting buyers. For example, the search term “dog training collar reviews” has much fewer results: 477,000. And when put in quotations, the results are only 37,100.

By adding the term “REVIEW” to your keyword phrase you will generate interest from dog owners who are looking to purchase the best collar for their particular dog.

Click the Google “Option” button and open the Wonder Wheel feature for even more keyword research!

Here are a few examples of Buyer Keyword Phrases…

“How to lose weight before a wedding” (desperate for a solution)
“How to restore deleted files” (desperate for a solution)
“Acne Free in 3 Days” (looking for a specific product name)
“Suunto X9i” (looking for a specific product name)

Get the idea?

In my next post, I’ll cover “Optimizing Meta tags”. Even though Google does not rely on certain “meta tags” there are meta tags that are a must for high SERP in Google.

I recommend you subscribe to my RSS feed as I will be adding to the series regularly.

Submit Website Links To A SEO Friendly Directory

Posted on : 04-07-2009 | By : Bob C | In : SEO, Website Design

In terms of website marketing strategies and the use of a SEO friendly directory, these do have their uses. Many are free, but how many of them are useful? If you conduct a search will find a load of directories listed, all of which claim to be able to do the same thing. But as all men are not created equal, neither are online website directories. The most important factor in this case is whether or not the directly is actively and correctly managed.

Links are required to undergo an editorial review and be approved so there has to be an editor to do this. Some SEO friendly directories claim to be this, but are in actual fact just “link farms”. This is the main feature you have to look out for when you are thinking of submitting links, high quality directories are managed actively and regularly up-dated.

Always find out if the directory is actively managed and regularly up-dated. The editor effectively approves links and submits them to the directory. As long as the directory you use fits these criteria, even if they are not so actively managed, they can still prove to be useful.

While it is not possible to submit links to your site to every directory on a list as it would be very time consuming, there are directory submission services which will do this on your behalf. They make sure that your submission reaches the correct destination and also keep track of submissions. There is obviously a cost involved, but there are many benefits to making use of this type of service, and it is far more time effective. Anything that saves you time is worth valuable money.

Web and SEO friendly directories are able to help your website immensely. However the Internet is a very big place so things can be difficult to find if you are looking specifically for something. This is how directories can be of use. They are kind of like the old fashioned yellow pages! In effect they list websites under categories which are relevant, for instance if you were selling printed T-shirts you may like to list your site as follows: “Shopping – Printed Clothing – Printed T-shirts”, or a similar listing.

The question many of us might ask is “do people actually use these directories?” I mean Google or any other search engine should be able to do a search just fine! They are available to help people find exactly what they are looking for.

While this is true, it has to be born in mind that people are getting more used to making use of web directories, but not all searchers use them. However this kind of listing serves another purpose, it improves the chance of your site ranking higher in terms of search engine rankings which improves the chances of your site receiving targeted traffic.

If you need to gain valuable SEO Friendly Links, then you should make the SEO Friendly Directory part of your web promotion plan.

The Upside of 62% of Small Businesses Not Having a Website

Posted on : 04-07-2009 | By : Bob C | In : Website Design

pineapple UPSIDE cake

I recently read an article that said 62% of small businesses do not have a website, which astounded me. But there’s a big upside in that statistic.

You might think I’m talking about the upside for me, owner of a web development company, but I’m talking about the upside for you, the small business owner. Whether yours is one the businesses that already has a website or not, that statistic represents a “sweet” opportunity you can take advantage of.

First, you need to understand that more than 70% of consumers have adopted the web as a place for finding information before they buy (and sometimes as a means of purchase: e.g., Amazon). A great deal of that information gathering results in a local purchase from a local business found online. In support of this trend, Google has made recent changes that enable people to find local providers of goods and services more easily. If you want customers, you want to be where 70% of them are looking (radio ads, newspaper ads, and even Yellow Pages ads do not draw that percentage).

Second, of the 38% of small businesses that do have a website, fewer than one-fourth have websites that are effective in terms of drawing search traffic or giving web visitors reasons to become customers. This is for a variety of reasons, but from observation, I believe it’s mostly because typical small business websites are static, non-interactive, and haven’t been updated since the day they were launched. We call those set-it-and-forget-it websites. A few years ago, they were of some value, if for no other reason than to show your prospects that you were “with it.” But things have changed and that’s no longer enough.

That means fewer than 10% of small business websites are of any value whatsoever in attracting new customers. Which means that, if you create an “effective” web presence, you’re in better position to take advantage of search traffic than 90% of your competitors, and that opportunity is open to you if you already have a website that isn’t effective, or if you’re one of the 62% that doesn’t have a website at all.

The thing about the web is, it’s a constantly changing environment. What worked 5 years ago is hopelessly outdated. What works today will be outdated 5 years from now. That might seem discouraging, but only if you decide to let it discourage you. There are some things to learn in order to use the web effectively as a marketing tool, but as my wrestling coach used to say, “It ain’t rocket surgery.” Once you get into it, you will find it all within your capabilities, and you’ll be able to keep up as things evolve.

Let your competitors keep their assumptions that it’s too hard (not knowing makes everything seem hard), or too expensive (certainly not compared to that Yellow Pages ad!), or ineffective (and it is ineffective, if your website is the set-it-and-forget-it variety). As long as they think that way, your opportunity is intact (and as long as you think that way, so is theirs). But as a business person, I’m sure you know some action is required to turn opportunity into reality. (Our phone number, BTW, is on our website and blog contact pages. I’m just sayin’…)
