Strategies For Online Newbies

strategies for online newbies

I created this site, www.strategiesforonlinenewbies.com,  back in 2008 with a two-fold purpose.

First, I wanted to provide simple and effective Online Marketing strategies that focused on the Internet Beginner. And, second to provide real reviews of products that worked in the marketplace.

I have to say, that strategies for online newbies has  not always met the mark; maybe I set the bar too high.

When you get right down to it, the best online marketing strategy is not to be found in a guide, report or some software. The best strategy for online newbies for success on the Internet is use good old common sense.

Marketing online is the only business opportunity that I am aware of that is still sold from the perspective that anyone can do it regardless of skill, knowledge or experience.

So Easy A Caveman Can Do It

urban cavemanRemember that major marketing campaign a few years ago for Geico Insurance that said, “it’s so easy, a caveman could do it?” It was effective right?

The premise of the commercials is that GEICO advertises that using their website is “so easy, a caveman could do it”; and that this slogan offends several cavemen, who not only still exist in modern society but live as intelligent, urbane bachelors.

The reason it was so effective and popular was because it appealed to our predisposition that cavemen (neanderthals) were primitive and basically stupid.

Even if you are not savvy when it comes to the Internet, or lack technical acumen, you could still navigate the Geico website, because it is so simple that a Neanderthal can do it.

The term Neanderthal appears in popular culture, often in unflattering and inaccurate light…

In many ways, new Internet Marketers are viewed as online marketing Neanderthals. And thus are targeted by product creators.

I can state with all confidence that there is no product or software, that alone will make you money. The ability to profit online is a developed skill that encompasses learning many things.

This includes: list building, site creation, landing pages, split testing, product selection, keyword research, niche selection, and lots more.

The days of creating a site, stuffing it with keywords, launching it on the Internet and reaping profits might have worked back in 2004, but those days are long gone.

Strategies for online newbies to become successful on the Internet must be carefully crafted and based on the amount of time you will commit, skill development and goal setting (both short term and long term).

The term strategy is often used synonymously with the term tactic. However there are distinct differences. A strategy by definition is long term. A tactic on the other hand is devised for shorter term results.

A strategy may be developed to gain page #1 ranking on Google over the course of 30-90 days.

Some of the tactics within that strategy might include: article marketing, video marketing, social media marketing, etc.

Only by taking the time to develop a strategy for online success can you build a sustainable business model that results in the kind of passive income that most online marketers dream of.
