Internet Marketing Online: Overcome Your Biggest Challenge

Welcome Back! This would be a great time to sign up for my RSS feed

life-coaches_perseverance

If you’re new to Internet Marketing you probably already realize that there are some major challenges to making money online that the ‘gurus’ failed to mention.

In this article I will (1) identify the biggest challenge you face and (2) give you some initial steps to overcome it.

But first, your biggest challenge is not:

• Information
• Products
• Niche
• List size

The market is flooded with how-to guides, videos and audios; so information is not issue.

Clickbank, PayDotCom, Commission Junction, Amazon, Ebay can supply you with literally tens of thousands of products to sell, so it is not products.

Whether it is your passion, a hobby or the latest trend, there are millions of niches available from which you can carve out online income. So, it’s not the marketplace, niche or micro-niche.

It’s a known fact that you do not need a list to make money online; although having a list can make it a lot easier.

So… if it is not the aforementioned, what is the biggest challenge you face online?

Answer… Look in the mirror! You are your biggest challenge. More precisely, it is your mindset.

Every day, thousands of well intentioned would be online marketers enter the fray hoping to make money online. Either they’ve heard about or read that anyone can make money online, and that it’s easy even if you don’t have any experience.

With high hopes they jump in, head first. So may even do a little online research, or download some free eBooks. Before you know it, they’ve built a website and then… zilch, nada, nothing!

A few weeks or maybe a few months of struggling to make it happen and they quit. (Maybe this is you, I don’t know).

The problem in the long run was with the way they were thinking about online marketing. And here is what I mean…

The vast majority of good intentioned souls that start out in Internet Marketing do so without counting the cost. Most don’t even have a business plan. They think like employees and not like business owners. They fail to plan their work and work their plan. The do not have a BUSINESS MINDSET!

Everything they do is hodge-podge, start-stop, here-there and in the end, they accomplish very little when it comes to the things that are necessary to really turn a buck on the Internet.

The average online marketer spends more time planning than they do executing a plan. (By the way, if you’re going to fail, FAIL FAST!)

It is better to work a system, make your mistakes early and discover what works and what does not, than to get stuck in analysis-paralysis reading tons of guides, watching hours of videos and laying out plans that never amount to a hill of beans.

So here is the first step of how to overcome this problem quickly and easily.

1. Planning. You must have a game plan before you do anything else. Consider this; every successful enterprise begins with a plan. It does not matter if you are a Fortune 500 company or a mom & pop operation. You need a plan. So grab a yellow pad and let’s start crafting a plan of action around some basic questions.

a. Why are you starting an online business? Be specific (and to make money is not the real answer). This is the most important question you need to answer because the answer to this question is what will sustain you during the tough times ahead. Hint: Most of the time it involves a lifestyle change. Money is merely to medium of exchange to effect the change!

b. What is it that you need the money for? Why do this as opposed to getting a part time job? Don’t rush to answer but really think about your reason.

2. What price are you willing to pay to achieve your goals? This question relates to time, effort and money. How much time are you willing to invest? How much effort are you willing to put forth in order to perfect your skills? How much money are you willing to invest in training materials and tools for your business?

a. If you are married and/or have children, you need to discuss this with your partner and explain your decision and that it will take some time to see results. (Believe me, if you don’t you’re setting yourself up for possible tension)

3. How much money do you want to earn from your online business? Be specific. Then break it down (annually, monthly, weekly, daily)

4. Over what period of time (realistically) do you want to achieve your income goals?

Start by answering these questions. Of course there are more, but this will get you started. Now, if you’re already involved online and not seeing the kind of success you had hoped for, maybe now is a good time to revisit these questions.

7 Truths Every Internet Marketing Beginner Should Know

7 Truths You Should Know As An Internet Beginner…

Now that you have made the decision to enter the world of Online Marketing there are a few truths that you should know.

Truth #1: Most people fail miserably. This s a fact that is consistent with SBA (Small Business Administration) statistics for most small businesses. The vast majority of folks that start an Internet Business will never make a profit. They will invest time and money, become frustrated because they are not achieving the results they anticipated (results generally based on inflated and hyperbolic marketing schemes) and they will eventually quit.

Truth #2: You must set goals and develop a plan of action. “If you don’t know where you’re going, it is likely you will end up somewhere else.” Most beginners fail to plan and that is their undoing. Plan your work and work your plan. Test, tweak and repeat. Consistently work at getting better results and you will reach your goal.

Truth #3: You can earn a substantial passive income online in time, if you study, work smart and are patient.

Truth #4: There is nothing new under the sun. However, there are new tactics and strategies that are discovered everyday that can make the process a lot easier. These tactics, methods, strategies, loopholes are developed by online marketers who practice their art and craft daily; testing, tweaking and improving upon what came before them.

Truth #5: Online marketing takes work. In fact, it takes a lot of work when you first begin. If you have some business experience, that is to your advantage. If you have none, then there is a steep learning curve that will take time and dedication to overcome. The old adage, “if you build it they will come,” is a myth.

Truth #6: Nothing is FREE in life. While there are a myriad of free tools and resources available on the Internet; until you combine the right tools and methods to create a synergistic approach. Your business will look like a Sine Curve, constantly up and down. Your goal is to produce consistent, predictable cash flow.

Truth #7: You must become a student of the business. Things change all the time, especially on the Internet. Search engines change their algorithms, products fall out of favor, trends change all the time. The more you are aware of this, the easier it is for you to adjust your business model and continue to prosper in spite of whatever changes occur in the market.

Your next step… Planning! Go Here Now!

Internet Marketers everywhere are up in arms about FTC Disclosure Guidelines that go into effect on December 1, 2009. But will these FTC rules mean the end of Internet Marketing.

Rather than rely on conjecture, forums comments, blurbs from “Gurus” and other non-legal opinions, you can find links here to credible resources that will help you navigate through this Internet Marketing transition phase.

Having come from a highly regulated industry prior to starting my Internet career, I am well aware of the angst created when a regulatory body decides to crack down (or in this case enforce rules that have been around for a while).

Here are the links:

Optimizing For Google: Proper Keyword Selection

Image representing Google as depicted in Crunc...

Optimizing for Google and getting your site on Google’s coveted first page is not difficult with a little work and know how. If you’re new to Internet Marketing you probably realize that just launching a website that looks cool or even that has great content is by itself, not enough to get you on the first page of Google. You must employ sound SEO tactics to achieve the desired results.

What follows is the first post in my series on basic “onsite” SEO tips that will get you started. keep in mind, there is no magic bullet. There are however tried and tested methods which work and which have to tweaked occasionally as Google adapts and changes its algorithms. What works today may not work next week.

Step 1 – Keyword Research. Yeah, I know, it’s been beat to death but the truth is, not choosing the right keywords is the death nil to countless aspiring online marketers.

There are essentially two kinds of keywords. Research keywords and buying keywords.

If you are trying to sell a product and earn quick profits, you want to avoid “research” keywords and concentrate on keyword phrases that people who are looking to purchase a product or service are querying Google and the other search engines with.

Let’s use “dog training” as an example. The term “dog training” is extremely broad. A Google search for this term returns 39,000,000 results. However Google actually helps you in defining search terms. See the screen shot below.

When you type in the term “dog training” Google actually provides you with more specific search queries.

The more specific you are in your search term the greater your chances of (1) ranking high in Google and attracting buyers. For example, the search term “dog training collar reviews” has much fewer results: 477,000. And when put in quotations, the results are only 37,100.

By adding the term “REVIEW” to your keyword phrase you will generate interest from dog owners who are looking to purchase the best collar for their particular dog.

Click the Google “Option” button and open the Wonder Wheel feature for even more keyword research!

Here are a few examples of Buyer Keyword Phrases…

“How to lose weight before a wedding” (desperate for a solution)
“How to restore deleted files” (desperate for a solution)
“Acne Free in 3 Days” (looking for a specific product name)
“Suunto X9i” (looking for a specific product name)

Get the idea?

In my next post, I’ll cover “Optimizing Meta tags”. Even though Google does not rely on certain “meta tags” there are meta tags that are a must for high SERP in Google.

I recommend you subscribe to my RSS feed as I will be adding to the series regularly.

Mafioso Marketing|How To Get Paid Right Now and In The Future!

mafioso-box-med

Mafioso Marketing 2 launches on Tuesday September 22 at 12:00 NOON EST.

Rhys Davies has done it again and delivered a super Internet Marketing course that teaches you precisely what you need to do to build an online business that will generate Instant  Income, Monthly Recurring Income and even income in the Future (these are the really ‘big paydays’).

He calls this system M.I.F. (Monthly, Instant, Future)

The entire system is built around the concept that in order to build a sustainable online business (not a hobby) you need multiple income streams to meet your financial needs along the way.

NOT MAKING ENOUGH MONEY is the #1 reason Internet Marketers fail. In fact 90% of all Internet Marketers fail to make a dime during their short careers. Truth is, if you can’t generate profits you won’t survive.

Mafioso Marketing is a no-nonsense, bull$#!+ free system that shows you what to do, step-by-step. It’s easy to follow. There’s nothing complicated at all about it.

In fact, you can be making Instant CASH the same day just by following Rhy’s instructions.
